Drawing
"Photography is an immediate reaction, drawing is a meditation." - Henri Cartier-Bresson
“My love for drawing began early, even before I started school,” said Marlene. “I was fascinated with the world of nature and tried to capture what I saw meticulously. Art was not taught in school and so my drawing ability was learned on my own. I was my own worst critic and frequently rendered a subject over and over until I had captured my subject exactly.”
Marlene has found fulfillment in teaching others how to love drawing. “Many years later, in my classroom, I taught drawing beginning in Kindergarten,” she said. “It made sense to me that since children were learning to form letters they could render those same shapes to create drawings of most objects around them.”
